Fashion disasters número 2.

Are you having trouble with your skin? A great tip to clear your skin is to drink hot water with lemon juice, there's something in the acid of the lemon that must help kill bacteria in the skin and we all know water is good for our skin.

Seen a super hot head band in Urban Outfitters or Topshop but they seem a little high priced for what it is? Take it upon yourself to find your nearest haberdashery store, places like John Lewis if they're a big store or fabric stores usually have a wide range of flowers, feathers and little sequins/beaded patches these things are perfect for picking up cheaply, pick yourself up a piece of elastic, these stores usually only allow you to purchase a meter of elastic but that's perfect for keeping handy for your next headband. Simply cut a piece of the elastic to roughly 2 to 3 inches smaller than your head and sew each end to each other then sew your flower or patch over the join to disguise it and there you have it an orginal accessorie that no one else will have and it probably cost a quarter of the price.

Want that soft wavy 40's style hair? The quickest option to achieving this look without having to set your hair in curlers over night, is to use a pair of straighteners and section your hair into layers, taking rather big pieces of hair using the straighteners curl your hair by placing the hair between the plates starting from the root and putting the straighteners at an angle twist them in your hand whilst gliding them through the hair, this should give you nice loose curl. Once you've completed this to the whole head of hair take a soft bristle brush and gently brush the curls out this should give you the end result. Give your hair a spritz of hair spray and your good to hit the tiles!

Good luck x

Sock it to me. The debate.

I have a tough one for all my FREAC readers!?
Socks and sandals, shoes no socks?
Whats your opinions?

Burberry has done sandals and socks before, as seen to the above.

and

Prada has done shoes no socks before, as seen to the below above.

Personally I like wearing shoes no socks as a man, but I dislike the socks and sandals for men. Though for women I think they can work both looks, as Burberry's approach is a fantastic option for a woman who has issues with her feet on show when wearing sandal heels.

Whats your thoughts?

Invest, invest, invest FREAC's.

So I just purchased a Hermes silk scarf yesterday and this lead me to thinking about investment pieces when it comes to fashion what constitutes an "investment piece" ? ? ?

To me an investment in fashion is buying a timeless item that can last for years to come and still look just as fresh and current as it did when you first bought it.

For example invest in certain designers, ones who have been around for decades such as Chanel, Hermes, YSL, Pucci and Louis Vuitton because if they've lasted this long surely their is a worth there and a thirst for more.

BUT.

You have to be careful, do a little research don't buy in to "fad" fashion the "colour of the season" the "print of the season" go for a piece that is a constant theme of the designers work, their signature pieces.

For example Chanel are known for there quilted 2.55 bags.

Also, dresses and coats etc can be good investments but the best items to buy are bags, shoes and jewelerry, accesories in general. They are easier to keep well kept and can usually be worn with just about anything.

Sus this out!

A while back I spoke about underwear as outerwear, but now were seeing stars like Taylor momsen and Alice Dellal wearing suspenders out as every day wear.
If your not brave enough to flash some serious thigh then why not try Henry Hollands colab with Pretty Polly "cheat" suspender tights, new to ASOS.com?
The only cheat that's getting near your legs!

Hunted by the Hunters

When it comes to festival footwear the most common and most fashionable choice is to stick on a pair of black Hunter wellies. The likes of Kate Moss who invented chic festival fashion can be seen wearing Hunters every Glastonbury.

I myself went for a little half wellington with buckle detailing.

Rip them to shreds.

Whilst there's been the subject of denim, I thought I'd share a tip on how to DIY ripped/shredded jeans.

Take a cheese grater, the one's that have a side to grate Parmesan like the one to the right, and twist the part of the jeans you want ripped and grate until you have the desired appearance. Then they "should" look something like this.

T-shirt - All Saints

Make mine's a double.

In the 80's double denim hit the world with big a "wham!" people of all ages everywhere dawned the look nick named the "Texan suit". Double denim was commonly worn by the cowboys of Texas, with brands like Wrangler picturing a lasso as its signature logo, brought the South to the rest of the USA and the UK. In the 80's acid wash was the color/style of choice.

BUT
the trend did'nt stop there it followed us right through into the 90's, but went a little sour with stars like Britney and Justin wearing full on denim to the MTV music awards. YUCK!
BUT ! now into the naughties I think we might (and im using that term loosely) have the hang of working the DD trend.stars such as Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and
Zac Effron can be seen sporting the DD look, and rocking it!
For my way of rocking the DD look look up;)
TIP
Try not wearing the same color of denim in the same outfit, try mixing dark indigo jeans with a acid wash shirt or jacket. Or alternativly wear a denim dress with a darker denim jacket.

Little fashion disaster tips.

problem-soloution
Jewellery turning your skin green? clear nail polish line the inside of rings and bracelets, paint the chain on a necklace and becuase its clear its un-noticable.

High heels just a tad too big so they slip inside? sparay a touch of a firm hold hairspray inside, it helps grip your feet inside.

Fur coat and no knickers? That's old news NOW it's leather jacket and just knickers.

With stars such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna topping the charts strutting their stuff in futuristic music videos and gracing the red carpets or even just the streets of New York in leotards or underwear. Are no trousers (pants in USA) really the future of fashion? The trend has hit the runway with designers such as Marc Jacobs using underwear as outerwear. But? will the trend translate to the street style of the world? watch this space, as I think there's really something, or to put in literal terms not really much there at all!!!

Do you think your brave enough to try the underwear as outerwear trend? My tip to you is try working it slowly into your style try wearing a black bra with skinny jeans and a statement jacket like a sequin blazer out on a night out first, then if you feel comfortable enough next time your out flash the flesh!!!
Good luck !

Don't turn your nose up at turn ups.

When it comes to summer the one thing I think never goes out of fashion is the turn up on a pair of jeans, wether it be a skinny, boyfriend, harem or cropped jean I think a little turn up gives a real cute grunge edge to your summer denim look. Showing a bit of ancle is always a sexy solution to full frontal leg flashing in shorts. In my opinion no socks and brouges or deck shoes is a cute alternative to wearing socks rolled down in boots.

So dare to bare your ancles this summer, or be like D&G and work the cow boy boot and turn ups! yee-hah!

What's up Doc?

Doc Martens have been around for decades first worn by the army in Germany in WW2 and then later worn by the London skin heads and punks in late 70's and through the 80's. Now in the Naughties many fashionistas such as Daisy Lowe and Alice Dellal are regularly spotted sporting a pair out and about, in photoshoots and red carpets. There are'nt many shoes you can say have lasted over 7 decades with a range of very oppoisite uses.
So I say lets keep the fire alive for a further 7 decades, so get yourself out there and get your hands on a pair!!!
