So I just purchased a Hermes silk scarf yesterday and this lead me to thinking about investment pieces when it comes to fashion what constitutes an "investment piece" ? ? ?
To me an investment in fashion is buying a timeless item that can last for years to come and still look just as fresh and current as it did when you first bought it.
For example invest in certain designers, ones who have been around for decades such as Chanel, Hermes, YSL, Pucci and Louis Vuitton because if they've lasted this long surely their is a worth there and a thirst for more.
BUT.
You have to be careful, do a little research don't buy in to "fad" fashion the "colour of the season" the "print of the season" go for a piece that is a constant theme of the designers work, their signature pieces.
For example Chanel are known for there quilted 2.55 bags.
Also, dresses and coats etc can be good investments but the best items to buy are bags, shoes and jewelerry, accesories in general. They are easier to keep well kept and can usually be worn with just about anything.
Above, my rose gold and aligator skin Armani watch 18th birthday gift and silk Hermes scarf a gift to myself.
Assuming you bought the scarf from a vintage shop or ebay then i wouldn't regard it as an 'investment' seeing as you bought it because of the price. As apposed to buying it despite the price, because surely that is the true definition of an investment.
